Orphaned wild rabbits

by Andy on April 17, 2013

Five baby rabbits were brought to us. They had been accidentally dug up out of their burrow.

So lovely to see the babies doing so well – & getting so big!

It was my gardener that dug them out from our bonfire, he’ll be pleased to know they are getting along so beautifully as will my daughter who did her very best to try & get me to keep them!!!!

Well done, looks like I made the right call 🙂

Every rescuer says that wild rabbits are the hardest to rear. These have so far been very easy. Others have found that they suddenly die for no apparent reason so I have taken the decision to release them as early as possible. I do a soft release. I have found an area where other rabbits are and gave them the opportunity to wander off. Two of the older ones have now gone and the others I still have. One is a bit too young, so I will wait as long as I can 🙂
Your daughter is right, they are so sweet but they won’t like captivity 🙂
